Nothing much

Nothing much to report. I have been too busy or tired to do breads. I will try to get some done the. Maybe something I can freeze like garlic bread just to have on hand. I did some pancakes but only to last for the rest of the week. It is much easier to do those because Jason just got me a griddle for my birthday.. What a wonderful invention and a wonderful gift. It makes cooking some things easier.
As for gardening. The pretty plant Jason got me for my b day is doing well repotted. Have not seen effects from the low light but that might take a while. Looks good in the area above the cabinets.
As for the banana tree. Getting new leaves!! Had a couple open up in a week so far, at least on the suckers. I am getting one huge leaf on the top plant. It will open within the next few days.
indoor plants are great after I went through and did the monthly cleaning and sprucing.
As for the veggie garden.. Poor. I am getting the green beans to blossom. Some blossoms on the vines but they will not produce anything because the vines are so immature. Missed the fertilizing on Friday but hope to get it this week.
the potatoes on the side of the house are wonderful. Growing real thick and hardy. The onions are so so on the from of the house. Great for using for the green onions. I am considering transplanting to looser soil when I pick out the ones for further bulb growth. Cherry bushes good.
I am growing disposable things in the front garden for tilling and mulching the sand with. The mock oranges are showing some life and growth.
all but one apple tree is doing great. Willows are wonderful.
I am thinking of transplanting some veggie seedlings to the side today but we will see what I can get to.
had some home lettuce yesterday from the porch.. Was wonderful!
my green house plants are doing well too. I am actually surprised at the progress of the cacti.
I also have more potatoes to plant so that will be cool. I ;think I will be using the other ones for the new potatoes.

Birthday

So all of my outdoor plants are wonderful. The ones from the order are doing real well. I think I might transplant some lettuce from cells to the ground. Possibly by the potatoes where the best light soil is. No need to water today because we had a bought of rain yesterday. It might hold me out until Wednesday.
As for my birthday I got the most interesting tree from my mother and father. They got a banana tree. The thing that is interesting is it is hardy in zone 5. I am skeptic and I am in love with it that I think I will try to have it indoors for right now. Jason and I bought a pot for it. Just a plastic terra cotta to get by with right now until I find a nicer stone one, or just wait until it needs to be transplanted again. It says it has 15 Ft height . I am excited to see if it does well inside. We do have the high ceilings for it. I will be repotting it today hopefully.
then my husband gave me my gifts and just one of the many was a Rex begonia. Very nice silvery plant with a maroon and green accent. I do not know if he was actually planning on what type of plant to get me but it is something that fits PERFECT! It cures my need for a color plant and fits perfect in the area where I needed a plant but could not decide what one to put there.
It was awesome of him. Heck I needed color. I have not bought plants since 2001 and lots of them died from then when I had a baby. Now I have them to a nice layout and schedule for care.

Budding well

The trees seem to be budding.
I have had massive growth already on the cherry bushes and the willow trees. Both my chestnut trees show signs of life and I have something starting on one of the apple trees. My mock orange bushes are actually showing life too. Its seems to be good so far. My Veggie garden is something to be desired. I just planted all the asparagus this last week and we will see if it survives better than the rest of the Veggies being that it is more of an adaptable and sturdy plant. I am now doing fertilizer Fridays starting tomorrow. We have trash Tuesdays, wash Wednesday, and smoke detector Saturdays. We try to maintain routine. :)

As for the bread. Been too busy with the garden. I made three batches a couple days ago and nothing special. Just a test of the bulk yeast I had purchased. It works great.
I will be making hard breadstuffs for the cookout we are having on sat. And I think I will make my parents a few loaves since they liked the last ones I had given them. My father called to curse me because he ate tons of the bread because it was so good. ( not good when dieting) :)
jason loves to nibble on what I have made it is a nice quick snack for him. Not to mention the dog loves getting the stale leftovers. He whines for it all the time. And it seems to be his favorite over the store bought.

Beans Went Bye-Bye

So I have an insect now that ate my pre grown beans within days. They are gone. I have hope for the many seeds I planted if we get some bug killer to ward them off. Cross my fingers!
same thing with the cucumbers.
the tomatoes are ok, the peppers are ok, and the corn looks a little stunted but in tact.
I planted all my lettuce, cauliflower, broccoli, garlic, and onions. They now make up most of my front garden but that is ok.. It will look unattractive but it is functional and it will amend the soil some.
I also planted the potatoes that were sitting out and sprouting... I do not know if they will actually grow but if they do not at least I have amended that soil in that area for some bushes or flowers (I am thinking cherry bushes in that area)
all of my indoor tropical are outside now in the greenhouse.
I need to repot the cacti. I will be doing the two in separate pots this time.
my lemon fell off and so are more of he leaves. :( do not know what is happening with that. I will prune and try again.
I got the indoor bulbs to dry out some and I will be forcing them soon.
I have my bamboo out of the diaper gel and back into water, since then I have had new root growth . Plus I got a pretty vase for them to be in.
I cannot wait for the asparagus to come in the mail. And I cannot wait for my mock orange bushes either!.
I am holding off on the fertilizing until everything is established and then I can just fertilize everything on the same day of the week.
Some of my lettuce from the hydroponics was dong well I divided it and now will see it totally take off :)
off to repot some cacti now.
